Touch-a-Truck events allow vehicle fanatics a chance to get up close to specialty vehicles of all sizes. On June 3, Public Relations and Community Engagement intern Erika Gossett, Customer Care specialist Valerio Recinos-Interiano, and bus operator Tim Wilcott, attended the city of Louisville’s Touch-A-Truck event to help spread the word about RTD’s mission to make lives better through connections.

Children streamed into the city’s recreation center parking lot, rushing to check out their favorite trucks and vehicles they have only been able to view from afar. Excitement ranged from honking the horn on a waste disposal truck, being able to play with different siren sounds in a police squad car, to freely exploring a 40-foot RTD bus.

Young transit enthusiasts flocked to the bus, relishing the opportunity to sit in the front seat and proudly sound the horn, with parents stopping to snap plenty of photos and explaining how the buses work. As they made their way out, they engaged in meaningful conversations with the agency's team, learning about RTD's many routes and benefits and even taking home an RTD pin to remember their special day.
